- Local Public Transportation -

Quincy has several public transportation choices. The city of Quincy maintains the Quincy Transit Lines. Call 228-4550 for a schedule of stops. The lines/routes are explained and outlined at this site.

The Adams County Council for Senior Citizens provides Senior Transportation Service for those over 60 in Adams County to medical appointments, shopping, therapy and social events. A donation of $2 in the city or $5 out of town is requested as well as a 24-hour reservation. Call the council for reservations at (217) 224-3535, Fax: (217) 222-1220.

There is also transportation for the disabled available in Quincy.

- Intercity Transportation -

If you plan to go out of town, Trailways provides service to several communities. Their station is located at 6th and Hampshire in Quincy, telephone number 223-1010.

Predmore Shuttle provides transportation for a fee to various locations including Lambert Airport in St. Louis. They will pick you up at your door and deliver you to your destination. Call 222-7055 for reservations. Their office is located at 1404 N 26th Street in Quincy.

American Airlines at (800) 433-7300 services the Quincy area at the Quincy Regional Airport with flights to and from St. Louis' Lambert Field

Amtrak serves Quincy from their station at 30th Street & Wismann Lane. Their service is to and from Chicago. Call (800) 872-7245 for schedules.

- Day Trips -

Just a few minutes to a few hours drive from Quincy and you can be at a State Park, a site of historical interest, a recreation area or a large shopping mall with your friends or relatives. QuincyNet has prepared several Day Trips including Carlinville, Carthage, Galena, Galesburg, Monmouth, Nauvoo, and Siloam Springs in Illinois, Wakonda State Park in Missouri and Burlington and Keokuk in Iowa for your enjoyment. St. Louis, this area is about a 2 hour drive from Quincy and you can enjoy museums, the Botanical Gardens, historical sites, one-of-a-kind restaurants, cultural events, shopping or a baseball, football, or hockey game. There are many free, major attractions in St. Louis like the St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis Art Museum, Laumeier Sculpture Park, the Riverfront, the Old Courthouse, Frontier Park and several more.

Pella, IA, is about 3½ hours drive from Quincy. Would you like to experience Dutch life? See the sites, hear the sounds, and smell the smells of the Netherlands. Everything about Pella is Dutch. They even celebrate a Tulip festival every spring.

Amana, IA, is about 3½ hours drive from Quincy. The Amana Colonies have an interesting history, quality crafted furniture, and clock factories, a woolen mill, and shops where handcrafted furniture and other objects can be purchased. There is a nearby outlet mall.

Springfield, IL, the capital of Illinois, is about 2 hours drive from Quincy. It offers historical Lincoln attractions to national art shows, the Illinois State Fair to the ethnic festival, and many museums and other points of interest.

St. Charles, MO, Missouri’s first capital, is about 2 hours drive from Quincy. It has unique antique shops, crafts shops, needlework shops, restaurants, tea rooms, and wineries. Year-round activities are hosted including the Lewis and Clark Rendezvous in May, a traditional Fourth of July Festival, Festival of the Little Hills in August, Bluegrass Festival and the Civil War Reenactment in September, Oktoberfest and the St. Charles Christmas Traditions on South Main Street.

Pere Marquette State Park, in Grafton, IL, provides hiking trails, riding trails, a lodge, a restaurant, fishing, biking, bird watching and several other back-to-nature attractions.

Lake of the Ozarks, MO, is a great place for boating, fishing, camping, birdwatching, and just enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings. It is about 4 ½ hours drive from Quincy. There are many accommodations to suit your needs as well including a large outlet mall in town.

Silver Dollar City/Branson, MO, . Silver Dollar City theme park endeavors to preserve the crafts of the 1880s Ozarks culture. Craftspeople demonstrate glass blowing, basket weaving, blacksmithing, pottery, candy making, candle making, and many other turn of century crafts. There are rides and attractions, festivals, unique shops and restaurants, and 50 dazzling shows a day. Many of the shows are performed by popular stars from current as well as previous spotlights.

Bishop Hill, IL residents preserve the history of its unique beginnings. Bishop Hill has been called “the most valuable Swedish monument outside Scandinavia”. Annual celebrations include Jordbruksdagarna, an agricultural celebration held in September, Julmarknad, a Christmas market, and Lucia Nights, a festival of lights.

Nauvoo, IL has a rich history beginning with a Fox Indian village, located on what is now Nauvoo which was sold for 200 sacks of corn. The area was laid out and named Commerce. Commerce saw little success until 1839 when Joseph Smith purchased 135 acres of swamp land along a horseshoe bend in the Mississippi River and renamed Commerce as Nauvoo which is Hebrew for "beautiful situation."

Siloam Springs State Park, IL is 3,323 acres of wooded hills and a beautiful lake which is located about 20 miles East of Quincy.

Spoon River, IL is some of the most beautiful scenery in Illinois. If you want a relaxing time away from home, this is it. There are more than 140 miles of scenic drives that explore the splendor of this valley.

Wakonda State Park, MO contains 1,050 acres and lies three miles south of LaGrange, just off US 61, close to the Mississippi River in the Northeast part of Missouri. There are campsites, boating and fishing, and waterfowl during the spring and fall migratory seasons. The campground is open year round.

Quincy maintains a very large number of wonderful parks that provide children’s playgrounds, swimming pools, walking trails, and picnic shelters, not to mention, the beautiful big trees and creeks.

- Area Highway Systems -

Quincy is serviced by the Interstate Highway System with I172 on the east of Quincy which connects traveling south to I72. State Highway 104 runs east to west through Quincy and connects to Route 61 in Missouri, a north and south route leading to St. Louis.
