Walnut Point State Park is located in Douglas County and covers 630 acres. The park was created in 1961 and contains a 65-acre nature preserve. The park’s lake, Walnut Point Lake, covers 59 acres and has six miles of scenic shoreline. Anglers will most likely catch bass, catfish, crappie, redear, and sunfish.
Besides the lake, anglers can fish at the Embarras River as well. Birdwatching, camping, hiking, hunting, and picnicking are other activities available at Walnut Point State Park.

Directions:
From Champaign, take Interstate 57 south for 23 miles to exit 212. Take Highway
36 east for 15 miles and go south on Highway 7. Go 6 miles and follow the signs
to Walnut Point State Park.
