Ten Mile Creek State Fish & Wildlife Area

Ten Mile Creek State Fish & Wildlife Area was created in 1988 and covers nearly 6,000 acres in Jefferson and Hamilton counties. There are four management units within Ten Mile Creek filled with lakes, ponds, forests, fields, and grasslands. The wildlife area has 2,600 acres of crop land that serves to provide food and shelter for migratory birds and local wildlife.

There are 25 pit lakes that range in size from 3 acres to 45 acres. These lakes are home to a healthy population of bass, bluegill, catfish, and redear. Other activities at Ten Mile Creek State Fish & Wildlife Area include boating, hiking, hunting, picnicking, and wildlife observation.

Directions:
From Mt. Vernon, take Highway 142 southeast 28 miles to Highway 14. Go west on Highway 14 for 5 miles to Ten Mile Creek State Fish & Wildlife Area.

From Marion, take Interstate 57 north 17 miles to exit 71. Go east on Highway 14 for 19 miles to Ten Mile Creek State Fish & Wildlife Area.
