Saline County State Fish & Wildlife Area was established in 1959 when 524 acres of land in beautiful southeastern Illinois was purchased by the State of Illinois. Today, this wildlife area covers 1,270 acres and is home to a 105-acre lake, Glen O. Jones Lake.
This out of the way park offers a wide variety of activities. Anglers can fish for bass, bluegill, catfish, or crappie from one of the lakes floating docks. Boat rentals are available from the concession stand as well as bait, supplies, and snacks.
There are four trails that cover nine miles within the wildlife area. Hunting, picnicking, camping, and wildlife observation are among the popular activities at Saline County State Fish & Wildlife Area.
