Rock Cut State Park covers 3,092 acres in scenic Winnebago County. This state park has a lot of recreational choices to offer its guests. Rock Cut State Park has two lakes, Pierce Lake covers 162 acres while Olson Lake measures 50 acres. Olson Lake is the only one you are allowed to swim in, but fishing is allowed at both lakes. Bass, bluegill, catfish, muskie, northern pike, sunfish, and walleye are popular catches with area anglers.
A hiker’s paradise, Rock Cut State Park has 40 miles of hiking trails that provide an excellent avenue to see the park’s natural beauty. Mountain bikers can ride more than 23 miles of trails while horseback riders have 14 miles of equestrian trails to explore. Winter months transform the trails into groomed cross-country skiing trails. Ice fishing, ice skating, and snowmobiling are other winter sports that guests enjoy at Rock Cut State Park. Other recreational activities include boating, camping, hunting, picnicking, and wildlife observation.

Directions:
From Rockford, follow Highway 251 north for 7 miles and take Highway 173 west.
Go 2 miles and follow the signs to Rock Cut State Park.
