Red Hills State Park consists of 948 acres of rolling hills, dense woods, and beautiful meadows in Illinois’ Lawrence County. The 40-acre Red Hills Lake was created in 1953 and anglers can bank fish for bass, bluegill, catfish, and crappie. Red Hills State Park has eight miles of trails for hiking and offers horseback riders a five-mile equestrian trail. Picnicking, camping, hiking, boating, and hunting are among the recreational choices at Red Hills State Park.
Chauncey Marsh Nature Preserve is a 565-acre satellite area to the park and contains a unique ecosystem with marshes, prairies, and forests. There is also an onsite lakeside restaurant, Trace Inn, that serves park guests year-round.
