Ray Norbut State Fish & Wildlife Area

Located along the Illinois River in rural Pike County, Ray Norbut State Fish and Wildlife Area is 1,140 acres of woodlands, wetlands, hills, and ravines. The park was originally created in 1970 with 860 acres. Unique to this park is a 100-acre island, Big Blue Island, located in the Illinois River.

Ray Norbut State Fish & Wildlife Area contains a wide variety of animal and plant life. Bald eagles winter at the park and can be seen hunting, nesting, and resting along the river. Besides wildlife observation, park activities include fishing and hiking.

Directions:
From Quincy, take Interstate 72/172 south 14 miles and continue on Interstate 72 east for 46 miles. Exit and go south for 4 miles then go west on Highway 106 for 4 miles and follow the signs for Ray Norbut State Fish & Wildlife Area.

From Jacksonville, take Interstate 72 west for 18 miles to exit 46. Go south 4 miles and then go west on Highway 106 for 4 miles and follow the signs for Ray Norbut State Fish & Wildlife Area.
