Nauvoo State Park

Nauvoo State Park lies along the east bank of the Mississippi River on the southern edge of Nauvoo in Hancock County. Nauvoo has an incredibly rich and interesting history. Visitors can learn about Nauvoo history at the Nauvoo State Park Museum found within the park. The museum was built in the 1840's and features a wine cellar, press room, and artifacts from Native Americans, Mormons, and Icarians. The park is also the location of Nauvoo’s first vineyard that has been producing grapes since the mid 1800's.

The park’s 13-acre lake, Lake Horton, is stocked with bass, bluegill, and catfish. Camping, hiking, hunting, and picnicking are popular recreational activities among park guests. Winter activities include cross-country skiing, ice skating, and sledding.
