Meredosia National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1973 and covers more than 2,800 acres along the Illinois River in Morgan and Cass counties. The refuge will eventually total 5,255 acres after all the designated land has been purchased.
Meredosia National Wildlife Refuge provides a sanctuary for wildlife and migratory birds. It also offers its visitors several recreational opportunities such as boating, fishing, hiking, picnicking, and wildlife observation.

Directions:
From Peoria, take Interstate 155 south 21 miles to exit 10. Go west on Highway
136 for 32 miles to Havana and follow the signs to Meredosia National Wildlife
Refuge.
From Springfield, take Highway 97 northwest for 44 miles to Havana and follow
the signs to Meredosia National Wildlife Refuge.
