Lake Shelbyville is a recreation oasis that offers something for everyone. The lake covers 11,000 acres and includes six sand beaches within the 250 miles of shoreline. Anglers will find a bounty of bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, muskie, and walleye at the lake and within the 16 ponds that border the lake. Boating, swimming, waterskiing, and canoeing are other popular water sports at Lake Shelbyville.
There are more than 20,000 acres of public land surrounding the lake. Wildlife management areas, state parks, and recreation areas provide ample opportunity for wildlife observation and outdoor recreation. Camping, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, and picnicking are additional recreation choices.
