Kankakee River State Park is a scenic 4,000-acre park with the Kankakee River running through it. There is an incredible amount of things to do at Kankakee. First time visitors should stop by the visitor center to view exhibits and displays pertaining to park history and geology. The visitor center is also a great place to learn about the park’s features.
The Kankakee River provides anglers with a healthy population of fish such as bass, catfish, northern pike, and walleye. Equestrian trails cover 12 miles of the park. Kankakee also provides equestrian campgrounds as well as a riding stable for horse rentals and guided tours.
During winter months, trails are used for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Other activities at Kankakee include biking, camping, canoeing, hiking, hunting, picnicking, and wildlife observation.
