Jubilee College State Park

Jubilee College State Park covers 3,200 acres in Peoria County. Jubilee College was one of Illinois’ first colleges and educated students from 1840 until 1862 when the college dissolved. In 1933, the 93-acre site was given to the State of Illinois and eventually became a state park. Although the college no longer exists, one building from Jubilee College remains. It has been restored and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Recreational activities abound at Jubilee College State Park. There are more than 40 miles of bike trails as well as 25 miles of trail for horseback riding. Bass, bluegill, and catfish are popular catches at Jubilee Creek and the park’s two fishing ponds. Camping, equestrian camping, hiking, hunting, and picnicking are other recreational possibilities.
