Franklin Creek State Natural Area

Dedicated in 1982, Franklin Creek State Natural Area is located in northern Lee County. This park’s 664 acres include a 180-acre nature preserve that offers a wide variety of native vegetation and area wildlife.

Park guests can cast a line into Franklin Creek and most likely pull out a healthy bass or catfish. Other park activities include hiking, hunting, and picnicking. Equestrian trails and camping facilities are also available at the park.

Serving as the visitor center, Franklin Creek Grist Mill was reconstructed in 1999. The original water-powered mill was constructed in 1847 and produced corn meal and wheat flour. The reconstructed mill is four stories tall. Visitors see milling demonstrations and learn about the mill with a series of displays and exhibits.
