In 1995, Logan County’s Railsplitter State Park was renamed Edward R. Madigan State Fish & Wildlife Area to honor Mr. Madigan for his dedication to public service. This 723-acre park was originally dedicated in 1971. It is home to Illinois’ largest sycamore tree. There are seven miles of hiking trails that take visitors throughout this scenic park. Anglers can cast their lines in Salt Creek for a chance at bass, bluegill, catfish, or crappie. Picnicking, river canoeing, and hunting are also popular activities at this park.
