Located along the Rock River in Ogle County, Castle Rock State Park was dedicated in 1978. Of the park’s 2,000 acres, 710 acres have been set aside as an Illinois Nature Preserve.
Castle Rock has a variety of natural features such as rock formations, ravines, bluffs, forests, and native prairies. Castle Rock is an actual sandstone butte and a very unique rock formation in this park and Illinois.
Anglers can fish the Rock River and will most likely catch bass, catfish, crappie, northern pike, or walleye. Park visitors also enjoy hiking, hunting, picnicking, and wildlife observation.
