Argyle Lake State Park

Created in 1948, Argyle Lake State Park covers 1,700 acres in McDonough County. The 93-acre lake is a fisherman’s paradise with bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, muskie, and rainbow trout. Canoe and boat rentals are available at the lake’s concession stand.

Hiking trails honeycomb the park and the experienced hiker will appreciate the challenging trails. Equestrian riders have seven miles of trail at Argyle Lake as well as their own equestrian campgrounds. Recreational opportunities include boating, camping, hunting, picnicking, and wildlife observation. More than 200 bird species can be spotted at the park.
