How do I get newspapers on the radio? The Illinois Radio Information Services (IRIS) provide
news programs to Illinois residents who are blind, visually
impaired, learning disabled or physically disabled. Programming
includes local, regional and national newspapers. Additional
programming such as magazines and interview shows is also available.
Each service has its own program guide and is available by
calling your local service center. To participate, listeners
use a special radio called a sideband receiver. Sideband receivers
are distributed through the Illinois Radio Information Services
at no cost to qualified participants.
