How to Get Family Counseling

How to get runaway services
Cornerstone Foundations for Families http://www.cornerstone-quincy.org/, which was formerly Family Service Agency of Adams County is located at 915 Vermont Street in Quincy, IL 62301. Their telephone number is (217) 222-8254. Their organization provides 24-hour crisis intervention for youth through the police department. They are a comprehensive, community-based youth services organization that provides crisis intervention for runaways and homeless youth in police custody. Their counseling services are based on a sliding scale, or in some instances, at no charge.

Adopted Persons' Services
The Adoption Preservation Program is a short-term intensive program to prevent adoptive children from leaving adoptive homes. This service is provided by Cornerstone Foundations for Families (formerly Family Service Agency of Adams County) located at 915 Vermont St., Quincy, IL 62301, (217) 222-8254.

Quincy Catholic Charities at 620 Maine, Quincy, IL 62301, (217) 222-0958, provides adoption services for pregnant teens.

The Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois at 2701 College Ave., Quincy, IL 62301, (217) 222-0106, Fax: (217) 222-0106, or 1-800-363-5237 provides pregnancy counseling and adoption assistance. Counselors help each expecting parent to make an informed decision concerning the future of the baby. They will also arrange adoptions.

Getting Advice for Foster Parenting
Cornerstone Foundations for Families (formerly Family Service Agency of Adams County) located at 915 Vermont St., Quincy, IL 62301, (217) 222-8254, provides support for troubled families with children. They aid in the placement of these children on a temporary, short-term basis while working to resolve the issues of the child's family. They also provide information and advice for the foster parents.

Marriage Counseling

Counseling for Unplanned Pregnancy

Teen Counseling

There are no eligibility requirements for this service. This organization also provides crisis intervention for runaways and homeless youth.

Help for teens in police limited custody
The Cornerstone Foundations for Families (formerly Family Service Agency of Adams County), http://www.cornerstone-quincy.org/ at 915 Vermont St., Quincy, IL 62301, (217) 222-8254, provides several counseling services for teens that are in limited custody by the police. Their goal is to preserve and reunify the family. Also provided is crisis intervention for runaways and homeless youth in police custody. Many of these children are referred by the Adams County Probation Department for counseling.

Counseling for Children 9 and Under

The Adams County Probation Department also refers children for juvenile probation counseling. Para-professional youth advocates/mentors are also provided for emotionally disturbed children who are at high risk for out-of-the home placement.

Surrogate Motherhood Information
Surrogate Mothers, Inc., website http://www.surrogatemothers.com/ provides some of the options available to those who wish to become mothers and surrogate mothers, the approximate expenses, legal issues to consider, success rates, procedures, and even an online form to complete for inquiries. As part of their service, they also provide an "Infertility Ring" of links for you to browse through.

Information in Regard to Consenting to Adoption
The National Adoption Information Clearinghouse http://www.childwelfare.gov/ has information for all 50 states on the laws regarding Adoption Consent. These laws vary from state to state and it is a good idea to consult with your attorney in regard to your individual state laws. Included is information regarding consent of minors, when consent can be executed, and revocation of consent.

Legal Information About Adoption
The National Adoption Information Clearinghouse http://www.childwelfare.gov/ provides information in regard to the legalities of adoption on its site. The State Statutes listings summarize specific sections of each state's code. You may also find additional information in other sections of a state's code, in agency regulations, case law, and informal practices and procedures. Included on this site is also information on federal laws, a summary of adoption laws, and summaries of adoption expenses, parties to the adoption, cooperative adoptions, consent to adoptions, and international adoptions finalized abroad.

Getting Adoption Papers Notarized and Certified
Adoptions must be handled through a certified agency or a lawyer. Both have notaries and can certify the adoption.
