1677 Maine Street is a Modest Queen Anne built of red brick. In mass the house has a large hip roof with a small gable projection in the front. Below the roofline is a classical dentiled cornice that ends at the gable projection. In the projection is a three-sided bay on the first floor that acts as a porch to the double-hung windows above.
The large wrap-around porch is the crowning architectural element of this house. It extends from the entry into a large octagonal gazebo-like structure and from there around the west side of the house. The columns of the porch are fluted ionic columns connected with a classical cornice and a colonial balustrade. The house is typical of the late Queen Anne where classical elements are introduced rather than the stick or shingle style.
