1422 Maine Street is a very nice front gabled, single projection Queen Anne home. The massing of the house is rather typical for this time period, but what makes this house unique are some of the stone and window details. The third story dormer on this house is an unusually shaped window that is reminiscent of the Gothic arch. The window lintels on this house are very large for the size of the window and are set off by small tiles on either side. Just below the lintels is a belt course of multicolored brick laid in a saw-tooth pattern.

The polychromy of the house adds dimension and texture to the facades. At the corners of the second story are corbels that crop off the hard edge of the front projections. Items such as these were added in later Queen Anne homes to emphasize the element of craftsmanship and detail becoming popular in the United States.

Other interesting details to see on this house are the wrought-iron gutter supports on the East side. It is remarkable that these still remain, due to the fact that so many gutters have been replaced within the last thirty years.
