1235 Maine Street is another house in this area that contains an original house type of one style with a remodeling completed in a different style. The original house is a gable front Queen Anne with a large abstracted palladian window and dormer turret over the entry. The palladian window was very common in both the shingle style and the Queen Anne and a window similar to this can be seen in Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio in Oak Park built in1895.

The first two floors of this house are built in a red brick and have little change in their texture or pattern. The gables are clapboard siding that sets the roof forms off from the walls. The turret dormer appears as if it has very little ornament left as a result of later renovation work, but was intended to act as a marker for the off-center entry into the house.

The most peculiar and interesting element of the house is the front porch. More than likely, this porch was a remodel of the original porch that was on the house. However, when this new porch was built, it was done in the craftsman style popular in Quincy after the turn of the century. The most apparent elements that make this porch craftsman are the extended and exposed rafters, the columns that allude to no historical style, and the overall horizontal proportion. It seems that the new porch was added onto the foundation and floor of the existing porch because the base and water table appear to be the same vintage as the rest of the house. Another element of the porch that disassociates the porch from the house is the hole which allows light to come into the parlor window. Overall the porch and the house do not go together architecturally but on their own are each interesting pieces.
