1244 Park Place is a wonderful Queen Anne home built in 1892 by an unknown builder. A large porch wraps around the front of the house and is embellished with exquisite spindle work. Above the porch one can see many fine Queen Anne details as well.
The brick walls fold in and out and create an architectural form based on the design of the interior plan, a typical feature of the Queen Anne. However, this house has an interesting combination of the irregular seen most prominently in the semicircular corner resembling a tower form. Rather that a cone shaped roof, seen typically in this house type, this house is capped with a Stick style gable that projects at 45 degrees. The projecting gable roof form became very popular during the 1890s in Queen Anne homes.
An interesting detail in this house is the curved glass window on the first floor. A large piece of plate glass was curved to match the surface of the wall. Windows like these were often custom made and denoted the hand craftsmanship of the middle class Nineteenth Century suburban home.
