1224 Park Place is an eclectic house with no dominant style of architectural detailing. Built of red brick with a rusticated stone water table, this house has elements of Prairie, Queen Anne and classical revival style houses. Its low hip roof with deep overhangs implies that the house originates from the Prairie School. However the fenestration and main opening, placed off center from the second story windows, suggests elements of the Queen Anne style.
The columns on the porch are of a classical order supporting a simple cornice and entablature and hint at Renaissance Villa architecture.
An interesting detail to note on this home is the original double front door. These were very popular during the 1890s in Queen Anne homes and were very helpful in allowing good air circulation during the summer months.
