Recreation The Quincy Park District is one of Illinois’ finest park districts. With nearly 1,000 acres of park areas, the Quincy Park District offers two aquatic centers, 27 holes of golf, a marina, a lake, fishing, and 27 parks located throughout Quincy. The parks, each unique in its own way, offer playgrounds, shelters, concessions, fishing, horseshoes, tennis courts, basketball courts, boat launches, batting cages, scenic views, and much more. Twenty miles east of Quincy lies Siloam Springs State Park, a 3,323-acre state park full of scenic views, recreational activities, and area wildlife. The park offers a 58-acre lake where you can boat, fish, or swim. Other activities include camping, birdwatching, hunting, hiking, and picnicking. Take a short drive over the Mississippi River and into Missouri’s Lewis County and you will find Wakonda State Park. The park has more than 1,000 acres of mother nature. Wakonda State Park has six lakes, swimming, fishing, boating, camping, and sand volleyball courts. There are eight miles of hiking trails that provide a look at the park’s lakes and sand prairie as well as the area wildlife. Canada geese, great blue herons, snow geese, and snowy egrets are a few of the birds that can be seen at Wakonda during the migration seasons.
