Mission Or Objective:
The purpose of RSVP is to provide a variety of opportunities for retired persons age 55 or older to participate more fully in the life of their community through significant volunteer service.

Overview:
RSVP is designed to recruit and place persons age 55 and over, in volunteer assignments for non-profit agencies and organizations.

Gives retired persons a sense of purpose by filling needs in the community.

RSVP can reimburse for meals and mileage expenses related to volunteer activity.

Program for people over 55 years of age who would like to share their time, experience, knowledge and interest with others in the community.

Among the services that the volunteers provide are delivering meals to shut-ins, counseling, and transporting people who are unable to drive to an appointment with a doctor or hospital. Volunteers also assist with clerical work and mailings at not-for-profit organizations.

Eligibility
: Retired or semi-retired age 55+

Carry-Out Caravan
This program is a grocery shopping service for homebound, handicapped or elderly. There is no charge for the service.

Transportation Program

Local and long distance medical transportation is provided to persons needing to get to St. Louis, Springfield, Jacksonville, or Columbia. Volunteers are reimbursed for mileage at the current government rate. Insurance is provided for volunteers while they are filling their assignments.

Senior Health Insurance Program
SHIP Counselors assist seniors with problems or questions about Medicare or supplemental health insurance. By appointment only.

Intergenerational Programs
RSVP places a high priority on recruiting volunteers as mentors and tutors in the schools.

Homeland Security
RSVP also places a high priority on volunteer recruitment to assist the police, fire department and Red Cross.

Volunteer Management Assistance
RSVP staff provides training and technical assistance in volunteer management to agencies and organizations using volunteers
