Mission Or Objective:
In acquiring the Dr. Richard Eells House (1835) at 415 Jersey Street, the Friends of the Dr. Richard Eells House
are committed to an increased public understanding of early Quincy history, concentrating on the Underground Railroad
movement, Dr. Richard Eells and his family and early Quincy architecture and building practices. This will be addressed
through research, restoration, exhibits and educational programs which interpret these goals, and cooperative projects
with other resources.
Overview:
Dedicated to preservation of the historic home at 415 Jersey, built by abolitionist Richard Eells, which was
used as a stop on the Underground Railroad. Has free annual open house tours in the spring and fall. Building is
currently under restoration.
Eligibility: Anyone interested; tax deductible, contributions; Fees: Annual
memberships range from
$25 and up. $3.00 per person for tour groups; Limitations: None
