Mission or Objective:
The goal of Farm Resource Center is to provide people
who are in need with various types of assistance,
but are not receiving it. We provide services to those
who traditionally do not seek help. We provide support
within the consumer's environment during times of
crisis, tragedy, or devastation. Farm Resource Center
provides a more "grass-roots approach" in
serving our communities and those who live in them.
Overview:
Independent, not-for-profit statewide program
that helps rural families and individuals through
outreach mental health services.
Some of what FRC provides:
FRC provides Crisis Intervention, Stress Management,
and Information and Referral services to rural individuals
and families. FRC provides Stress Management presentations
to community groups and outreach response to mine
and plant closures. FRC responds to disasters within
a community by linking with emergency services and
providing outreach to those affected by the disaster.
The trained Outreach workers maintain a comprehensive
list of community services available to assist the
consumer in accessing appropriate agencies and programs.
Also helps the consumer and their family improve their
skills in stress management, understanding the patterns
and problems of community and family living, and to
deal with normal developmental issues, improve self-esteem,
role-competency, and social functioning.
FRC was created to respond to the changing needs of
the rural community, particularly the farm and coal
mining industries, with regard to stress in the family
and the work place. FRC provides individuals and their
families services such as crisis intervention, stress
management, and referral/advocacy services to assist
in the changing conditions.
Eligibility: Although FRC specializes in issues
related to the coal and farm industries, it services
the rural community in general. Services are for any
individual or farm family facing crisis; Fees:
All services are free and confidential; Limitations:
May be determined due to agency resources.
